Dear Lady Members
As we head towards the golfing season I want to say how happy I am to be your Lady Captain for 2017. I have so much to look forward to & I’m here to do my best for all the lady members both on & off the course. I want to say thank you to the Past Captains for giving me this opportunity & to the wonderful committee who have been busy planning the year ahead. A big thank you also to the ladies who willingly behind the scenes look after the housekeeping.
Our GGAG scheme continues & I would ask everyone to offer a big Balmoral welcome to all our new lady members. We look forward to getting to know the ladies on the Course, in the Locker Room & in the Function Room.
Ladies, I know that we are all enjoying the emails we receive from our Hon. Sec. but do also keep an eye on the Notice Boards for up-to-date information on both social & golf events.
Of course the success of our club is all down to you Ladies who lend your support in so many ways. I ask you again to consider:
- putting yourself forward for one of the team events and/or lending your support at the matches
- playing in one of match play competitions
- attending some of the Friday night Presentations
- sponsoring one of our competitions
- inviting friends to play in our Open Competitions
- coming to some of the 200 club socials.
To ensure that our ladies have every opportunity to play/compete we are introducing a new handicap up to 54 (as suggested by the ILGU). We continue to have our alternate day (Sunday) & both 18 & 9 hole competitions. We have increased the number of draws to include both stroke & stableford competitions.
I thank Past Captain Liz for all her help in preparing for this year & I look forward to sharing the year with Lady Vice Captain Leontia.
I look forward to seeing each one of your either on or off the course.
Have a wonderful season!
Lady Captain Eithne

Give golf a go for Ladies has been running in Balmoral Golf Club for two years with a second successful scheme recently delivered by the hardworking Ladies section.
Give golf a go 2 was introduced in 2015 & began in May 2016 with approximately 70 Ladies completing the initial 6 week course. The lessons took place in glorious sunshine every Monday night during May and June at Balmoral Golf Club Academy and Colin Valley driving range. Our thanks go to all the Lady Members who gave freely of their time to administer the sessions and mentor the participants. Our thanks also go to our professional Lee McKenna for his time and commitment to the scheme.
23 ladies then expressed an interest in joining Balmoral Golf Club and signed up for further coaching activities over the summer months. These activities ended on Monday 22nd August with a fun competition and meal at Balmoral Club House.
A follow up winter driving range course is also planned to keep the potential new Ladies interested as we work towards them becoming members of the club at the beginning of the 2017 season.
Give golf a go 3 will commence in May 2017 further details of this course will be available closer to the time.
The Ladies section of Balmoral Golf Club are delighted with the response to their Give golf a go initiative and intend to run this beginners course for many years to come.
