Bar Staff

The Balmoral Golf Club Lisburn Road Belfast are looking for outgoing and experienced Bar staff who can provide a welcoming environment to ensure a high level of customer & member satisfaction in addition to serving drinks and waiting tables.

  • Show customers to their seats and present our menu options
  • Advise on the best food and drink choices for each customer and answer questions
  • Take drink orders and deliver them to the table deftly and accurately
  • Attend to the tables and guarantee compliance to cleanliness standards
  • Check the quality of the final servings and resolve any issues
  • Deliver bills and accept payment
  • Work with other staff as a team
  • Work diligently to achieve outstanding service quality
  • Ensure all guests attending Events are shown to seats, taking orders and delivering excellent customer service.

Job Types: , Part-time

Pay: £8.40-£11.44 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 8 per week

Job Description Greenkeeper

Reports to: Management / The Head Green keeper

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Weekend Saturdays Time and a half. Sundays Double Time

Working times: Flexible depending on the needs of the club (summer months early starts, winter months later starts)

Main areas of responsibility

The greenkeeper is responsible for the maintenance, care and overall appearance of our golf course. It is your job to maintain a good playing surface and ensure the course offers a consistent challenge and an enjoyable experience to golfers.

There are six key areas on a golf course

  • Tees
  • Fairways
  • Greens
  • Areas of rough
  • Woodland areas
  • Paths and walkways

Each of the above requires a different type of maintenance. The Greenkeeper will tour the course at the start of the day in order to prepare the course for play. This requires very early starts during the summer months to ensure the best playing surfaces are available on a daily basis. From time to time the Greenkeeper will be required to work different shift patterns in line with the golf course demands and needs for example summer months require different starting times than winter. There are a number of big days to consider (e.g. Pro-Am, Captains and Presidents Days)

Greenkeepers also need to be constantly aware of golfers on the course, making sure their work does not unduly interfere with play, and must keep health and safety at the forefront of all their activities.

The greenkeepers work includes:

  • Mowing turf using tractors, ride-on machines and specialist hand mowers.
  • Scarifying/grooming/ Verti-cutting turf & Verti Draining Fairways.
  • Applying top dressing.
  • Treating turf to ensure consistent playing surfaces.
  • Strimming bunker edges and paths to a high standard.
  • Using environmentally friendly treatments to control weeds, fungal diseases and pests when instructed to do so by supervisor or management.
  • Raking bunkers daily.
  • Replacing divots.
  • Emptying bins.
  • Replenishing ball washers with water.
  • Renovating and maintaining bunkers and other hazards such as water features.
  • Removing early morning dew and debris from the greens.
  • Repairing wear and tear caused by golfers and animals such as squirrels and rabbits.
  • Responding to enquiries and dealing with any golfers in line with current responsibilities and management guidance.
  • Attending to drainage problems.
  • Assisting with drainage maintenance plan.
  • Applying irrigation when required.
  • Cutting new holes on greens.
  • Planting and pruning trees and shrubs as required.
  • Maintaining paths to a high standard.
  • Making sure that the premises on arrival is at a high standard.
  • Attention to detail is of paramount importance.
  • Operating and maintaining machinery and tools.
  • Marking of hazards, out of bounds and ground under repair.
  • An appreciation for golf members and golf etiquette.
  • Maintaining good health and safety and work within the required guidelines.

Skills and personal qualities required

  • An in-depth knowledge of turf and how to maintain it.
  • Practical skills for driving and operating machinery.
  • Good stamina and physical fitness.
  • To be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative.
  • To be able to work alone and also as part of a team.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • To understand and follow health and safety requirements.
  • To have good communication skills.
